![]() If you check above with Dolphin or whatever, you should find either or both of those two directories, something in here need to go, this is why I say the easiest is jut to delete the appropriate.I have tried forcing the architecture to install DraftSight, even after installing the packages mentioned in the previous posts, but I always get this error: dpkg: warning: overriding problem because -force enabled: The reason I have two is because I have two different versions on this older install, I did not need to delete I don't think because there was a change in directory structure. The latest version you have downloaded has the same directory structure as the previous and will likely clash. I might try it while I am in this KDE32 system.Ĭan confirm I can not install either (have not deleted my config files either, yet, needs more thinking for me as I am still hoping perhaps get the registration fixed up)Ĭode: ~]$ /opt/dassault-systemes/DraftSight/Linux/DraftSight Long and short I see not why it should not install on KDE32, I have installed the latest in KDE64 latest July ISO no problem, surprisingly clean install but as you can see I am no further. QWidget::setLayout: Cannot set layout to 0īlimey DS runs an no registration needed, perhaps because I have only renamed the config files. I did get a bit nervous as it seems to take a long time to get the Logo up and then further 10-20 seconds. I assume it was phoning home my computer details and got a positive reply. Notice I just started from a user terminal but I do have a icon as well in PCC menu and it does start from here as well.Īctually now I come to think about it, is there something about when new versions come out they disable the older ones? I thought I had seen something like that on the net somewhere. I was already saying good bye to my work as I would have been out of running systems now. Ok, only need to get the KDE64 running nowĭid not start from terminal. I don't know what directory the executable file is in. ![]() I have the latest Mint 64 KDE installed on the machine. I just now downloaded the latest draftSight (July version) as a.deb file. I had been advised that the version of d/s is 32-bit and requires 32-bit libraries, which are available as a package in their Synaptic as ia32-libs, so I installed that. Went to the menu, found draftSight under graphics, told it to add to desktop, got It said an email was coming, which I would have to respond to, which I did.Ī screen came up asking for user name, etc., and requiring acceptance of some bs, so I did. The icon, snapped on it, and now I have d/s on the monitor ready to roll. ![]() After snapping on the icon, it took about 30 seconds or so to load. I am informed thatĪ minor change to /var/lib/dpkg/status file needs to be implemented to thwart some dependency issue that disables d/s if some other program is installed. The change to the "relevant part of the draftsight entry" is:Īrchitecture: amd64 (I don't know if this is correct even for Intel cpus I'll have to ask on the Mint forum.)Īnyway, if you need it and pclos can't hack it, this works. I don't know what's in their ia32-libs package. I don't know if pclos has anything like that-I don't think so. Now I have to find my AutoCAD book and try and get back what I had 15 years ago! I actually have an application I want to draw up. Maybe somebody here with a bit more experience than I have can put this to use and make a pclos version work. Very interesting, as I said I struggled with M**t64 but as you have described it was exactly as I was expecting the install to run but it was no where near that. Guees I mangled it so much that there is little hope of even trying with the later. deb file, must admit there seem to have been some improvement somewhere. Well I have I think well over 500 hours of CAD work from the past and of course I don't use it much these days. I have however the house plans I have drawn up over the years and while you could not build a house from it it is very handy when anything sizeable are considered just to run up a drawing and do some tentative sketches. I don't like changing back and forth so when I saw difficulties with DS I was getting concerned. I am not fussed if it runs 32 or 64 bit but I am a bit concerned about how Dassault-Systemes has the control to turn the old systems off, so you can not keep running and old install. Regarding the lib32, from what I can figure that is still needed, I listed the function names in one of the libraries I think it was, and there were many references to something /lib32.
